MULTI RAKE BAR SCREEN

A Manual Bar Screen is a simple and cost-effective coarse screening solution used in the
preliminary treatment stages of wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and water
intake structures. It is designed to capture large solid materials from the influent stream,
protecting downstream mechanical equipment and ensuring efficient operation of subsequent
treatment processes. Manual bar screens are typically cleaned by manual raking, making them
suitable for small-scale or low-flow installations where mechanical screening is not economically
feasible.
Although it requires manual labor for operation, the system’s simplicity, reliability, and low
initial and maintenance costs make it ideal for remote or temporary facilities and as an
emergency bypass system.

Main Components

Screen Frame

The screen frame is the main load-bearing structure that supports the screen bars and holds the
entire screen assembly in place. It is manufactured from hot-dip galvanized carbon steel or
stainless steel and is fabricated in a U or L-shaped profile to suit the channel dimensions and
installation angle.

Screen Bars

Screen bars are mounted vertically and evenly spaced to allow water flow while capturing large
solids. They are fabricated from flat or trapezoidal steel or stainless steel bars, with spacing
(screen opening) ranging from 20 mm to 100 mm, depending on application requirements.

Handle/Rake

The rake is a manually operated tool used to remove the captured screenings from the screen
surface. It is generally made of galvanized or stainless steel and includes a comfortable grip
handle. The rake is shaped to match the screen bar spacing for effective cleaning.
